Outreach drafts

Z2X agents can draft personalised outreach messages for your prospects. You review and approve each draft before it's ready to send. Nothing is sent automatically — Z2X is a drafting assistant, not a sending tool.

Generating an outreach draft

For a single prospect

  1. Open a prospect in your First 100 list
  2. Click Draft outreach message
  3. The Growth Hacker agent writes a personalised message using:
    • The prospect's profile and where they hang out
    • Your idea brief (the problem, your target customer)
    • Your founder profile (who you are, your credibility)
    • Any notes you've added to the prospect
  4. Review the draft
  5. Approve to save it as a ready-to-send draft, or Request revision with notes

For a segment

  1. In the First 100 view, filter to the set of prospects you want to message (e.g. all New prospects from a specific source)
  2. Click Draft outreach for selection
  3. The agent generates a base template + personalised variants for each prospect
  4. Review the template (applies to all) and then individual variants
  5. Approve all or approve individually

What good outreach looks like

The agent is instructed to write messages that are:

  • Short — under 100 words. If it's longer, ask for a revision.
  • Specific — references something true and concrete about the recipient, not a generic opener
  • Honest — clearly identifies you as a founder working on something, not a vendor pitching
  • One ask — asks for a single thing: usually "Would you be open to a 20-minute call?"
  • No pitch — doesn't describe features, doesn't talk about the product beyond "I'm building X for people like you"

Example of what to aim for:

Hi Sarah,

Saw your post in the Freelance Designer Collective about chasing client approvals over email — that thread resonated. I'm building a tool specifically for independent designers to manage client feedback without the endless threads.

Would you be open to a quick 20-minute chat next week? I'm trying to understand the problem better before I build anything.

Best, Vera

After approval

Approved drafts are saved to the prospect's detail view. From there, you can:

  • Copy to clipboard — paste directly into email, LinkedIn DMs, Twitter DMs, etc.
  • Download — save as a text file
  • Mark as sent — updates the prospect's status to Contacted

Z2X doesn't send messages for you. The approved draft is a ready-to-copy message — you send it through whatever channel you normally use to reach this person.

Follow-up drafts

When a prospect doesn't respond after 5–7 days, you can generate a follow-up:

  1. Open the prospect
  2. Click Draft follow-up

The follow-up agent reads the original outreach and writes a brief, non-pushy check-in (typically 2 sentences). Sending more than one follow-up is rarely worth it — if two messages don't get a response, this probably isn't the right person right now.

Tracking what you sent

Add a note to each prospect when you send. Include:

  • The date you sent
  • Which platform / channel
  • Any context that might be useful for a follow-up

This is important because the agent uses prospect notes when drafting follow-ups and status-update messages.
