Unlocking an idea with AI
Unlocking uses one of your monthly idea slots to run a deep AI analysis of your idea. It's the fastest way to go from a rough concept to a structured brief with competitive context.
What the unlock does
When you unlock an idea, Z2X runs a multi-step analysis that:
- Refines your problem statement — turns a vague concept into a crisp, testable hypothesis
- Maps the target customer — defines who specifically has this problem most acutely
- Surveys the competitive landscape — identifies existing solutions, their weaknesses, and your positioning angle
- Suggests a business model — based on how similar problems have been monetised successfully
- Calculates a For You score — how well this opportunity fits your founder profile
- Generates early evidence signals — public indicators that real people have this pain
How to unlock
- Open an idea from your Ideas list
- Click Unlock idea (the button near the top of the idea page)
- Confirm — this uses 1 of your monthly unlocks
- Wait ~30 seconds while the agents run
The unlock is a one-time action per idea. Once unlocked, the brief is populated automatically and you can edit any field.

Unused unlocks don't carry over to the next month. If you need more, you can upgrade your plan.
After unlocking
Once unlocked, you'll see:
- The idea brief populated with AI-suggested content
- A For You score in the ideas list
- An option to Build your Z2X Path — the next step in the process
Review the AI-generated brief and edit anything that's wrong or too generic. The brief is the foundation for everything that follows, so it's worth spending 5–10 minutes making it accurate.
Unlock quota
Unlocking is irreversible — you can't undo an unlock or get the slot back. Make sure you've added the idea you actually want to analyse before clicking Unlock.
